Friend!
As of today, nearly 12 million people in the US are behind $6,000 in their rent or utilities 😤 As soon as the current eviction moratorium ends, about 30 million people will be in danger of losing their homes (yep, 30 million people).
Eviction has devastating effects. Especially for public health as those evicted are forced into shelters, friend’s homes, or cars where social distancing is impossible. Plus, losing one’s home traps a person into debt and poverty as future landlords refuse to rent to those who have been evicted.
What can YOU do to help our communities? Join us for “On the Frontline: Evictions and the Economy,” January 6th at 8pm EST / 5pm PST, where we’ll discuss how we can protect our people and our future, because we believe that housing is a human right for all!!
RSVP NOW
The eviction crisis is a result of the ongoing economic crisis that has left more than 10 million people unemployed, with Black people representing the highest percentage of unemployed adults in the country. Housing is a human right, Friend and we need support NOW!! We can’t keep waiting for relief, so we’re building our people power to take action.
Join United We Dream, The Movement for Black Lives, and The Working Families Party at 8pm ET on Wednesday, January 6 -- find out what action and a progressive agenda looks like for a stronger economy and housing justice for all.
This event will have Spanish and ASL interpretation, and closed captioning.
When our communities are safe and have secure housing, we can look forward to a future in which we all can thrive. See you Wednesday, January 6th on the Frontline.
In solidarity,
Carolina and the rest of the UWD Team
