Dear Friend –
By now you've heard about President Trump's phone call last weekend to the Secretary of State of Georgia, in which he urged the Secretary to "re-calculate" the election results. The call was a textbook example of corruption, featuring threats and intimidation and suggestions about going around the law to reverse the results of a legitimate election.
But integrity won. My colleague in Georgia stood firm, even though he and President Trump share the same political party. Standing up to political adversaries is easy. Standing up to political allies is hard.
Integrity matters. Secretaries of State have an obligation to follow the law and the truth - in service of democracy. My ongoing commitment is to do exactly that for Minnesota.
