Hi John - I don’t know about you, but I get inspired every time I read about the millions of scientists and health care workers giving it their all to beat the coronavirus pandemic. It’s a sign that with hard work and dedicated resources, we are going to eventually see an end to the deadly virus. Now, we need to show the same resolve to help improve the lives of kids who will be suffering from the impacts of the pandemic for years to come. Congress has just returned to session and will have a lot of competing priorities. We need to tell them in a loud and clear voice – don’t forget the needs of kids! Send a message to your members of Congress today – we need to ensure kids can thrive in 2021! Young children – especially those already suffering the impact of poverty and systemic racism – are going to need support to overcome months of lost time in early learning programs. We need to make sure the child care industry survives and can serve even more kids who need high-quality care while their parents work. Kids whose parents are struggling to put food on the table need help to have enough to eat. Children who were separated from their parents while seeking asylum in our country need to be reunited and helped to overcome their trauma. And globally, the coronavirus is threatening to reverse decades of progress for children. Pandemic-related malnutrition alone could kill an additional 168,000 children by the end of 2022. We’ll need to make sure we continue to provide life-saving humanitarian assistance to kids who need it the most. We know this is a bold agenda for kids for 2021. But we also know that we have an amazing network of advocates ready to speak up and make sure kids are the #1 priority. Tell your members of Congress – make sure kids are at the top of your agenda in 2021! Thank you for being a voice for kids, |
