Friends,
Happy New Year! Did you resolve to spend some time on climate action in 2021?
Then join us on Thursday, January 7, at 7:30 pm, for the 350 Fairfax virtual general meeting! This is what’s on the agenda:
-
Learn: Our guest speaker is Zach Huntington, the Clean Streams Program Manager for Clean Fairfax and lead organizer for Litter Free Virginia. Zach’s work focuses on finding long-term solutions to our litter and solid waste problems using an economic argument for more sustainable business practices. He will tell us all about the single-use plastic and litter legislation the General Assembly will consider this year. Spoiler alert: We could see a Styrofoam ban!
-
Discuss: We’ll spend the second half of the meeting planning for 2021. This year, we'll continue to work on ensuring a just transition to a clean energy economy and reducing single-use plastic pollution at the local and state levels. But with important state-wide elections coming up and a new, climate-friendly administration in the White House, we want to hear from you about what's most important in 2021.
-
Act: This year’s 30-day General Assembly session begins January 13, and we have no time to waste. We’ll share a few pre-session actions you can take on Thursday.
