Dear John,
As we begin 2021, all of us at the Alzheimer's Association are already hard at work, thanks to committed individuals like you.
But there is still more work to be done as we pursue our mission to lead the way to end Alzheimer's and all other dementia — by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support. We have set some important goals for the year ahead and beyond, and I look forward to reaching them together.
We will accelerate global research.
The Association currently supports Alzheimer's and dementia research in 31 countries across six continents. To keep us moving forward in 2021, we will award funds to advance dementia science toward methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure.
We will drive risk reduction and early detection.
To help further efforts to prevent Alzheimer's and to spearhead early detection, we will continue supporting promising areas of science, such as imaging and other tools for early detection, lifestyle, genetics, and understanding how we may reduce risk.
We will maximize quality care and support.
No one should fight Alzheimer's on their own. To maximize quality care and support for all affected, we will work in 2021 to serve the Alzheimer's community through our free 24/7 Helpline (800.272.3900) and online resources at alz.org, engage vulnerable and underserved communities, and advocate for the most effective dementia care practices in long-term care settings.
We'll share more details on these efforts later in the month when we launch our 2021 Annual Fund efforts. I urge you to look out for those important communications.
In the meantime, let me thank you one more time for your dedication to our vision of a world without Alzheimer's and all other dementia. I'm excited about the progress we'll achieve together in 2021, and I hope you are, too.
Sincerely,
Donna McCullough
Chief Field and Development Officer
