Legislative Models For States

As demand for office visits and elective procedures has declined during
the pandemic, independent physicians and hospitals have suffered
unprecedented revenue losses that make them vulnerable to foreclosure or
acquisition by large health systems. As a result, provider consolidation
could accelerate and access to care may be diminished. States with bans
on anticompetitive contract clauses, certificate of public advantage
legislation, and modified scope-of-practice laws are better positioned

**A CLOSER LOOK**-Disabilities And Health Disparities

People with disabilities face a number of social and health
disadvantages, including lower income and education levels than people
without disabilities, as well as increased likelihood of using tobacco,
forgoing physical activity, and being overweight or obese. These health
disparities are compounded by lower rates of screening and more
difficulty accessing services for people with disabilities compared to
people without disabilities. On World Braille Day, we return to an
October 2011 article written by Lisa I. Iezzoni about the need to
eliminate health and health care disparities among people living with
disabilities
