Trump is obstructing Congress’ constitutionally mandated oversight role.
John,
Why did Donald Trump withhold funding from Ukraine’s military? Was it to try and hurt his political opponent former Vice President Joe Biden? Or was it because Trump is in Putin’s back pocket? (Or both?!)
In order to understand Trump’s many dangerous decisions ― whether it’s signing bills such as his tax scam into law or foreign policy actions involving his close ties with foreign powers such as Russia and Saudi Arabia ― we must demand that Congress follow the money. And that starts with getting a closer look at Trump’s tax returns.
Donald Trump has obstructed congressional lawmakers and state prosecutors as they seek to hold him accountable for corruption and likely illegal behavior. An impeachment investigation will break this logjam.
With any form of corruption, all you need to do is follow the money to understand the motivations. We still don’t know how Donald Trump and his family have personally benefited from bills that he’s signed into law and policies that his administration has implemented. We still don’t know why Trump sides with dictators and strongmen over our foreign allies.
But we do know that whether it’s refusing to turn over his tax returns to the American people or obstructing Congress’ constitutionally mandated oversight role, there is plenty that Trump is hiding.
Whether it’s decades of tax dodging, potential money laundering for foreign powers, or obstruction of justice, this president is not above the law.
Thank you,
