This is it, John xxxxxx: tomorrow is Election Day in Georgia, giving us just one day left to get out the vote in support of Democrats Jon Ossoff and Rev. Raphael Warnock so we can take back the Senate.
And it couldn’t come a moment too soon.
Over the past two weeks, we’ve witnessed Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell ignore the needs of the American people and block legislation to provide $2,000 stimulus checks to help struggling families put food on the table and pay their bills. The man clearly doesn’t have a clue what people are going through, and he doesn’t care.
And while we’ve passed some groundbreaking legislation in the House to raise the minimum wage to $15, strengthen the Voting Rights Act, reform our criminal justice system and so much more, it was all dead on arrival once it reached McConnell’s desk.
Our country is dealing with multiple crises right now. The coronavirus pandemic continues to claim lives, jobs and businesses, while a number of Republicans in the House and Senate are choosing treachery and sedition in an attempt to overrule November’s election results and keep President Trump in power.
We need strong leaders willing to stand up for our democracy and fight for the people now more than ever, and we have the chance to elect two of them — Jon Ossoff and Rev. Warnock — and take the Senate gavel back from McConnell tomorrow.
