I first announced my support for an impeachment inquiry several months ago, a decision I did not make lightly. I listened to my constituents and came to the conclusion Donald Trump had committed numerous impeachable offenses.

While the situation remains murky, public reports indicate President Trump asked the Ukrainian President to investigate Joe Biden and his son, seemingly to help Trump's own 2020 re-election campaign. Further reporting says Trump reportedly ordered a hold on $400 million in aid to Ukraine before this call.

Let me be perfectly clear.

Threatening to withhold aid from a foreign leader to get them to do your political dirty work is extortion. Abusing the assets of the United States of America and the public trust is corruption.

This is an impeachable offense.

The Acting Director of National Intelligence has so far refused to turn over a whistleblower complaint deemed urgent and credible about this matter, in direct violation of the law. This Thursday, he will testify before my committee, the House Intelligence Committee, in a public hearing so the American people will get some answers. I encourage all of you to watch as we hold this administration accountable for this latest lawless action.

The law states a whistleblower complaint like this must be shared with Congress. To learn the truth, the report must be produced in its entirety. The facts must be known.

I'll share more information as soon as it's available.
Jim
