4 years ago, Phoenix police brutally killed my brother. We must honor him with action.

this tribute to my brother, Muhammad.

Hi Friend,

On this day four years ago, the Phoenix police mocked my brother for his Muslim faith and brutally killed him, just for using the restroom. None of the officers have faced any consequences. In fact, one of them has gotten a promotion since he killed Muhammad.

The system keeps pretending like we don't matter. But we do.

Today, I’m asking you to join me in honoring my brother. I recorded this video tribute with some of the incredible people who believe that Muhammad’s life mattered.

Will you sign this card to my family as we demand justice?

Local groups like Poder in Action, BLM Metro Phoenix, the Black Mother’s Forum and national advocates like Rep. André Carson, the National Disability Rights Network and Muslim Advocates all pitched in to share their tribute to my brother. Amir Khadar designed this beautiful image of him.

Please share my video tribute today on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook — and forward this email far and wide.

We have a long fight ahead of us, but we’re hopeful because of people like you. This is not just about Muhammad, it’s about every victim of police violence. And it’s about all of us.

Thank you for honoring him and saying his name: Muhammad Abdul Muhaymin.

Sincerely,
Zarinah Tavares
