As we begin a new year, I’m reflecting on 2020 and years past.

I’m thinking about families who are struggling to afford health care, put food on the table, and make ends meet. I’m thinking about our health care workers and frontline heroes who have put their lives on the line for others. And I’m thinking about all of us who have spent every single day of the Trump presidency fighting hard to undo the damage.

As we look back on 2020, each story begs this simple, fundamental question: What kind of country do we want to be in the years ahead?

We know the answer to that question because most of us want the same things — a good education, racial justice, the freedom to love who we want, dignity in our work, and an economy where small businesses and working families thrive. And over the past year, we’ve added another to that list: a nation safe from COVID-19.

I’m ready to continue fighting for these things and more as we strive to get our country back to the business of doing right by working families. I know Joe Biden and Kamala Harris share that same commitment.

But just like everything in life, progress won’t come easy. If we want to accomplish this together, then I will need your support every step of the way.
