Friend --

We're all hoping 2021 will be a very different year from 2020, but some
things don't change: Once again, we're entering January on the verge of an
Israeli election. It will be the fourth in two years.

And, once again, Netanyahu's corruption scandal is at the center of
political instability as he tries to secure a coalition that will grant
him immunity.

All that said, many things will look different this time around. The Blue
and White slate that posed the main challenge to Netanyahu in the last
election has disintegrated. At the moment, the biggest threat to his hold
on power appears to be from his right, though it's too early to say what
center-left coalitions may emerge in the coming weeks.

To discuss all the recent political activity and what we can expect this
election season, I'll be moderating a discussion this Wednesday with J
Street Israel Executive Director Nadav Tamir and star Israeli political
journalist Tal Schneider.
