Hello, hello, hello, my dear friends, this is Rhine McLin, reaching out with an important update and request.
I've been serving as vice chair of the Ohio Democratic Party for more than a decade, and as our party decides on its next leader, I'll be taking the reins for the time being. As the first African-American woman elected to the Ohio Senate and the first woman elected mayor of Dayton, I've broken barriers, mentored candidates and fellow elected officials and brought people together over many decades in public service.
And in all my years in Ohio politics, no one gets under my skin quite like Rob Portman.
A few weeks back I wrote in the Dayton Daily News how Rob is emblematic of the exact kind of D.C. double-talk that Ohioans hate about Washington. During the debate over coronavirus relief, he attacked his Democratic colleagues for daring to call for more funding for hospitals and local governments, then later tried to claim credit for securing more funding for hospitals and testing.
When it's re-election time, Rob likes to act like he cares. He acts like he wants to be bipartisan. But it's just that -- an act.
I will say this about him, Rob Portman knows how to keep his wealthy donors happy and keep them writing him big checks. That's why our work to defeat him in 2022 (along with Mike DeWine and all of the other statewide Republicans) needs to start now.
Will you chip in $10 or more to elect Ohio Democrats up and down the ballot and defeat Rob Portman next year? [link removed]
Thanks for being on this team -- I'm so looking forward to working together to turn Ohio blue!
