In case you haven't heard yet, today is ✨National Voter Registration Day✨ and I am so, so excited!!

Why am I *this* excited about a fake holiday that doesn't even get us out of school? Because voting literally saves lives -- and March For Our Lives made it super easy to register as many people as possible today.

I know that a lot of people are pessimistic about the state of ~everything~ right now. It can be hard to be inspired to do something like voting when 100 people on average are being killed by guns each day. But here's what keeps me going.

Last year, we focused heavily on voter registration and turnout among young people during our Road To Change tour and with Mayors For Our Lives -- and our efforts helped spur the highest youth turnout in a midterm election EVER.

And what did all the young voters do? Caused 46 NRA-backed politicians to lose their elections. That new, youth-elected Congress went on to pass the most comprehensive gun reform bill in my lifetime.

Unfortunately, that background checks bill got stuck on Mitch McConnell's desk, where he's refusing to let the Senate vote on it.

But what if it didn't? What if we all turn out in 2020 and vote him, and his other NRA-funded colleagues, out of office? What if we proved change is possible by showing up and voting in gun-safety candidates ready to do something? I don't know about you, but that sounds like a (totally realistic) dream to me.

Let's make it happen.
