Brad Lander for NYC Comptroller [[link removed]]Dear John,

2021 is finally here.

This will be the year that we will beat back the pandemic ravaging our city. The year that Donald Trump leaves the White House for good. The year that massive grassroots mobilizations will win urgently needed relief for tenants, workers and struggling families. The year that we will elect transformative leaders to bring a just and durable recovery to NYC.

Join us on January 7 for an election year kick off with Cynthia Nixon, WFP’s Sochie Nnaemeka, and other leaders! [[link removed]] We’ll talk about the path to those victories for New Yorkers and how we’ll get there together.

With 2020 in the rear view mirror, one of the most consequential elections in New York City’s history is coming up quickly. I’m running to be NYC’s next Comptroller to help our city recover from the Covid-19 crisis, prioritize working people, put the long-term public good over short-term profit, and invest in our schools, parks -- and especially in a more sustainable and resilient future.

New York City is facing the greatest challenge of our generation: We must dramatically accelerate vaccine distribution and curb rising COVID-19 rates to protect frontline workers and our elders. We must help millions of families and small businesses survive the economic catastrophe. And we must invest now in bringing our city back to life with an emphasis on long-neglected issues of equity, sustainability, and resilience, in order to ensure a vibrant future for all of us.

Join us on January 7 for an election year kick off party and discussion of what’s needed to help NYC emerge from this crisis more fair, more equitable, and more sustainable. [[link removed]]

(And we’ll also get to hear some music from Arcade Fire’s Will Butler, our Windsor Terrace neighbor, whose album Generations is one of my favorites from last year, to help us kick off the new year with some rootsy energy).

The most important fundraising deadline of our race is coming up next week. This is our chance to show our city that there is a powerful, grassroots movement for new leadership to build a more equal and sustainable future. Even if you can’t make the event on the 7th, can you chip in $10 to help us kick off the election year strong? [[link removed]]

2021 will be our year.

With gratitude and hope,

Brad
