As a former prosecutor, I’ve faced down corruption, lawlessness, and abuse of power at every level -- from state and federal courtrooms to the war zone in Iraq. In each case, the mission was always the same: uncover the facts and pursue the rule of law.
For our elected leaders in Washington, that commitment to the rule of law is more than a mission, it is a sworn duty to defend the Constitution. But we’re witnessing a failure of leadership at this moment.
Earlier this year, Senator Tillis said it was his duty to “preserve the separation of powers and to curb… executive overreach.” For Senator Tillis, the time to honor his word is now.
