Last month, when the Trump administration announced they were gutting the Endangered Species Act, countless Americans like you spoke out. So many of you joined me in condemning what might be the administration's worst environmental decision yet -- and wondered how you can join the fight.

Now, there's something we can do. I've introduced a bill in the U.S. Senate that would restore the protections that Donald Trump is taking away -- and I need to know that you're ready to join the fight.

Last week's news that North America now has lost almost 30 percent of its bird population in the last 50 years -- a decline of over 3 billion birds since 1970 -- should be a massive wake-up call. We need to be better stewards of our natural environment and of the habitat endangered species rely on.

But the Trump administration isn't listening. There's only one reason they're weakening these protections: they're trying to pave the way for drilling, mining, and development in our nation's most pristine lands and waters -- and they don't care what they trample on to do it.

I know this will be an uphill battle. Fossil fuel companies have cheered the decision to gut the Endangered Species Act, and they're going to fight tooth and nail to stop us.

But we have momentum on our side -- and a country filled with advocates who are furious with Donald Trump's attacks on our environment.
