Dear John,
Happy New Year!
We hope you had time for a good break over the Christmas holidays and had time (virtually or in person) with family and friends. 2020 was a tough year but it's been inspiring to see the positive and resilient responses from Londoners during the pandemic and we are looking forward to what we hope will be an exciting year for Greens across the country in 2021.
Mon 11th January - West Central London Monthly Meeting
We will be having our monthly meeting on Monday January 11th at 7pm. It's a particularly important one as we'll be starting the process to find and select candidates for our target wards for May 2022. Come along if you are interested in being a candidate or you think you know someone who might be. We'll go through what is involved and what support will be available, with plenty of time for questions. Click here to RSVP and get the Zoom details.
In addition, keep an eye out for a future Q&A event with existing Green councillors, including those from under-represented communities so you can find out more about what it takes to be a Green councillor and the support on offer. In the meantime, a helpful website worth checking out is the Association of Green Councillors, a great group of people bringing positive change around the country. Could you be one of them in 2022?
Thu 21st January - Green Investing - What is it and how can it work?
In January, we also have an event about Green Investing with three great speakers:
- Molly Scott Cato - Stroud, West England, UK - Former Green Party MEP and Green Party Spokesperson on Finance
- Bruce Cadbury - London, UK - Venture Capitalist and Green Party Member
- James Ellman - California, USA - Author and Fund Manager
Click here to RSVP and get the Zoom link.
Getting involved
We always appreciate offers of help. One of the most helpful things you can do is spare 1-2 hours a month in your borough to help us drop off leaflets. We have ensured this is Covid compliant and check Public Health England guidelines before each leaflet delivery (next one in mid February). It's a great way of getting exercise!
For more information, please email Piera at [email protected]
We look forward to seeing you on 11th January!
As always, just let me or Zack know if you have any questions or comments.
With best wishes,
Naranee Ruthra-Rajan
Co-Chair
West Central London Green Party
P.S. For those of you interested in what a Green led council can do, Brighton and Hove recently published a report about their first 100 days - it's definitely worth checking out:
