Hi John,

Stacey Abrams has made it clear that Democrats can take back the Senate in just 4 days by winning the runoffs in Georgia. But how? In Abrams’s words, “It’s about raising the money; we need to support these elections. It’s about building even more deeply the capacity of organizations to do this work. And it’s about making certain that voters understand what’s at stake.”

Abrams’s words can’t be understated. Winning the Senate wouldn’t just make Kamala Harris the tie-breaking vote in the chamber -- it would ensure that we have the chance to make progress on voting rights, reproductive justice, access to affordable health care, climate action, and even more in the next cycle.

Although 60 women ran for Senate in the 2020 cycle, none successfully flipped a Senate seat from red to blue. And despite significant gains in the House, progressive women candidates still struggle to make a mark in our legislature. If we want to lay the groundwork needed to reform a system that favors the few, then the work starts with this Georgia election -- but the truth is, we’ll need to ramp up our budget.

John, we can ensure that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have the structural support they need to push the progressive legislation we’ve waited for in Washington. First, we need to support Democratic candidates Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff in Georgia as they work to take back the Senate -- and then we MUST look ahead. Women, especially women of color, have proven time and time again that they can lead the fight for change in this country.
