Dear friend ,
What does it mean to follow Jesus?
It's a question that’s been at the heart Sojourners’ calling since the early days — but in the midst of our current political and spiritual crisis, it has taken on greater urgency than ever before.
That’s why I wrote Christ in Crisis: Why We Need to Reclaim Jesus, which launches today.
Some early readers are already calling it the most important book I’ve ever written. Here’s why I think the message is breaking through — and why I want as many people as possible to read it.

The election of Donald Trump, and the presidency that has followed, provokes a clear choice for every American — especially those so bold as to call themselves followers of Jesus:
Will we follow a politics that tells us to fear and hate our neighbors, build walls, ignore the truth — a politics that gives comfort to those who deny that we are all created in the image of God?
Or will we follow Jesus, who tells us to love our neighbors — especially those different from us — as we love ourselves, and that, in God’s view, the “least of these” are the most important?
I believe this is the most important choice for America’s future.
The fact is that Jesus Christ has always been for all of us — not just us Christians — and I believe all of us have something to learn from Jesus in this moment of crisis.
That’s what this is about.
And it’s more and more clear to me how this book, Christ in Crisis, is not finally about Donald Trump, or the Democrats, or about religious right and left, about me, Sojourners — or any of us.
It is about how Jesus — somehow, mysteriously, and even miraculously — has survived all of us, and how, in the midst of our crisis, we need to reclaim his good news now more than ever.
In Christ,
Jim Wallis
