TRIPLE MATCH: ACTIVE

Friend — in the final days of the year, the Trump administration announced major efforts to rush mining projects in South Dakota, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, and more.

Once the actions are finalized, it may be too late for the Biden administration to stop them.

Earlier in December, a donor put up a challenge to triple match every contribution to environmental campaigns through the end of the year. In light of the news, we just got approval to extend one more day.

Please — read the message below and then make a year-end gift today.

DEADLINE EXTENDED: Make an emergency contribution of $5 or more before midnight and it will still be triple matched »

Thanks for helping us start 2021 ready to fight back.

Happy New Year,
— Gene

Friend — tonight's deadline is a serious one. We're heading into 2021 needing to respond to an immediate, dire threat to the environment.

In the final days of the year, the Trump administration has announced a final wave of mining projects set to happen on America's majestic public lands. Each of them is a complete disaster for the environment. Each of them must be stopped.

Each of them will ONLY be stopped if the environmental movement shows up in a major way right now.

Please, make a year-end contribution to LCV today. A major donor is tripling every contribution before midnight. Even $5 is enough to make a difference »

The situation is dire — the final weeks of Trump's presidency are an incredibly dangerous time, where he has virtually zero accountability for the damage he does. And he's using this window to make moves he didn't dare to make before the election:

In South Dakota, a massive uranium mine — one that would require injecting water underground to dissolve the uranium before pumping the solution to the surface — is now barreling forward.

In Arizona, the administration is preparing to take land from the San Carlos Apache Tribe to build one of the country's largest copper mines. The move would destroy some of the Apache's most significant cultural sites, and tribal groups are preparing a major resistance effort.

In Utah, Trump is preparing to give final approval to drill for helium in national wilderness where energy leasing is currently banned. In Nevada, Trump is preparing to green-light an open-pit lithium mine. Off the East and West coasts, dangerous and unpopular offshore drilling proposals are reportedly being rushed.

We can stop each and every one of these plans, but we need to move quickly. Stalling these efforts — even for a couple weeks — means the Biden administration can reverse course. But it entirely depends on how far they get now. If these actions are finalized, they're binding.

But we need to make it to Inauguration Day. President-elect Biden just announced an incredible cabinet that will be positioned to reverse course. Rep. Deb Haaland — set to take over the Interior Department, which is in charge of managing the land Trump is trying to sell off — will be the first Native American Cabinet secretary in history.

After months of must-win political battles, the truth is this: Putting up a campaign of this magnitude will only happen if the environmental movement turns out in a major way. Again.

So we're asking: Pitch in before midnight. Right now, every contribution is being triple matched — and even $5 is enough to make a difference »

Friend — thank you for everything you've done to get through 2020. Together, we'll turn things around in 2021.
