I like to joke that I'm the oldest youth climate striker, and I have to say, being surrounded by young people fighting so loudly and so strongly for our planet's future is certainly one way to feel young -- and inspired.
You can't be anything but inspired, no matter what your age, by these young people who are fighting to address this moral imperative -- and the biggest crisis that will impact their lives and their future. They have the high ground: When a 12 year old looks at a 60 year old and says, "Hey, don't ruin my future," there's only one answer -- "I hear you, and I'm going to get to work to fix this."

I'm here at the United Nations with the U.S. Climate Alliance, which is made up of 25 states that are already moving the needle and are committed to dealing with climate change.
I know the rest of the world is happy to hear that message, especially when America's #1 climate denier is sitting in the White House and refusing to join in on any of the Climate Week activities at the UN.
I'll keep fighting to bring meaningful climate action to folks in Washington state, and I know my fellow U.S. Climate Alliance governors will continue to fight in theirs, but there's more work to do. We need global climate action -- and like Greta Thunberg said yesterday, "Change is coming, whether you like it or not."
