John, before the clock strikes midnight and 2020 is behind us, I wanted to send one last note.
First, I am beyond thrilled to have six progressive champions—that you helped elect by being a part of this movement—join me in D.C. in just a few days.
I know I’ve said it before, but we truly wouldn’t have been able to do it without you, John. Thank you.
That being said, I would be remiss to not mention the amazing candidates who won’t be joining us in Washington.
It’s never fun to talk about the losses, but it’s important to talk about part of why we lost these races: big money in politics. It’s just a fact that 88% of congressional candidates who raised more money won their elections. So when our candidates committed to not taking corporate PAC or lobbyist money, they were immediately put at a disadvantage.
It’s always going to be an uphill battle to elect candidates who aren’t afraid to take a stand against special interests and who make it clear that their priorities lie with the people. But we will never stop supporting them. And one of the best ways to do that is by raising money early, so other potential donors know that our movement is strong and worth supporting.

We must continue to work hard to elect progressive lawmakers in the years to come who will stand up to the corporate special interests, lobbyists, and corrupt politicians that have dominated our government for far too long.
And one thing is certain: we will always need more people in Congress and the Senate who are willing to speak out on behalf of working-class people over wealthy special interests.
