Hi John. Jamaal Bowman here.
It's a surreal feeling, but this is very likely the last email I'll send to you as a Congressman-elect. On January 3rd, I'll be sworn in to Congress, and I'll officially be a Representative for New York's 16th, the Bronx and Westchester.
But before that important day comes along, there's another important milestone in the nearer future that's also important: the end-of-year FEC deadline for campaign fundraising.
We're so close to reaching our goal of $15,000 by midnight tonight, John, and we just need a few more folks to step up before then in order to reach our goal. If you haven't had a chance to do so already, can I count on you to chip in any amount to our campaign right now?
As members of Congress, our jobs are to meet the needs of our constituents, period — directly, explicitly, and without compromise. Most of this means legislating and organizing, which I'm hoping to focus as much of my time on as possible.
That's why hitting this $15,000 end-of-year goal is so important, John. The stronger financial base our campaign has, the sooner I can hit the ground running in Washington.
Not worrying about fundraising means I can spend more time meeting with constituents, advocating for progressive policies, organizing around solutions that meet the moment and match the crises we face, and — of course — challenging the status quo.
Peace and love,
Jamaal Bowman
