Hello John,
House Democrats have been clear about our priorities from the beginning of the budget process.
Our commitment to Michigan public schools is at the top of the list, ensuring our educators have the resources they need and our students have access to the quality education they deserve. If our goal is to prepare the next generation of Michiganders for the jobs of tomorrow, we are failing to set them up for success by routinely underfunding schools.
You know where I stand. Can you chip in $20 or $50 to support me as I continue fighting for the investment I know our schools need?
As usual, the School Aid Budget that passed last week offers a little bit more funding, but not enough to correct the steady decline of Michigan public schools. This budget does not make the full funding investment we need per student - in fact it doesn't keep pace with inflation. We were capable of, and had the time, to do more.
This budget isn't even close to the Governor's recommended educational increase.
If we raise the money now, House Democrats will be better equipped to flip seats and win the majority in the next cycle. Help give Gov. Whitmer a chamber she can work with by contributing $100 today.
Let's set a new course for the state of education in Michigan.
In solidarity,
Donna
P.S. Every dollar counts. We lost this fight for education funding, but with your help we can win in 2020! Can you give $50 today?
