December is really hard for me, John.

As I got closer to the day my beautiful butterfly Dylan was murdered, I went on an emotional roller coaster. I was at my desk working and burst into tears for what seemed like no reason.

But I know the reason: It's because my baby boy is gone forever.

I desperately miss Dylan, and I can't bear the thought of any other parent feeling the same unending pain of losing a child to gun violence. So, before I step away tonight to spend some time with my family, I have to ask for your help:

With only eight hours to go until midnight, we're still short of securing every dollar of our critical year-end match. I'm afraid that if we fall short, we won't be able to expand our programs fast enough to prevent the next tragedy. So please, can I count on you to make a tax-deductible donation to Sandy Hook Promise now to double your impact?

Please donate $10, or as much as you can, before our midnight deadline to help close the gap and have your gift go twice as far toward protecting children from gun violence.

Around the holidays, it feels like I'm holding my breath – and I can't breathe again until they're over. The only things that keep me going are my family, this work and supporters like you, so thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

With love,

Nicole Hockley (Dylan's mom)
