Friend,
I just wanted to make sure that you received my email from this morning. There are only a few hours left to take advantage of this incredible matching opportunity. Please take a moment to give what you can in support of GLAAD’s work. We cannot fulfill our mission without you.
Sincerely,
Sarah Kate Ellis
Dear Friend,
The time is now. This is the final day of GLAAD’s Reclaim Our Ground Drive. This is our last chance to use the Board Leadership Fund to match your gift dollar for dollar, making it go twice as far in support of our work. Please, take a moment to invest in the future of the LGBTQ community.
Supporters like you have made it possible for GLAAD to advocate for the LGBTQ community throughout 2020.
- We amplified queer voices of color and stood in solidarity with Black Lives Matter. Through a range of programs including Project NEON, and our Latinx Programs, you allow us to ensure the full diversity of our community is visible, and represented accurately across the media landscape.
- GLAAD mobilized LGBTQ voters to the polls in November, helping to drive one of the largest voter turnouts in US history – work that continues now in the Georgia as we approach the run-off elections January 5th
- We increased the representation of transgender people in TV and film, building on wins from this year, like Star Trek: Discovery adding its first non-binary and transgender characters in the half century of the franchise existence.
- Spirit Day, this year taking place on October 15th, broke records by engaging celebrities, sports leagues, media outlets, educators, and even saw a message of support from the President and Vice-President elect sending a loud and affirming message to LGBTQ young people that they are not alone
- We continue to ensure LGBTQ issues are front and center in the news media and our stories are accurately portrayed in entertainment and Hollywood, especially those most marginalized among us
- The GLAAD Media Institute has continued it’s trainings, in a fully virtual world, reaching over 20,000 LGBTQ leaders, advocates and activists
Friend, as we look toward 2021, we know we have so much more work to do. The damage of the last administration must be reversed and we must Reclaim Our Ground swiftly and definitively. We must work to restore protections for transgender students and service members, ensure the safety of LGBTQ families, and pass the Equality Act.
We cannot do this without your help. Please stand with GLAAD now, by investing in this work at this critical moment.
With gratitude, and best wishes for a safe and healthy New Year,
Sarah Kate Ellis
