Dear John xxxxxx,

As 2020 comes to a close, I’m thinking – as always – of my incarcerated brothers and sisters. I’m thinking of those that cannot spend the holidays with their loved ones. Of those that are held in conditions that made it impossible to social distance. Of those we have lost.

I also feel a great sense of hope for the future reflecting on the incredible progress we made during this time. We at ARC persevered in our fight for equal justice, despite the numerous (and seemingly endless) challenges and heartbreak.

Our advocacy and reform work usually gets the most press coverage, so I want to share with you some of the programmatic accomplishments I am most proud of:

  • Delivering PPE to the jails and prisons most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Continuing on with the graduations of our 9th and 10th Apprenticeship Readiness cohorts, leading to over 35 job placements
  • Seamlessly transitioning to virtual programming and mental health services to make sure our Members were being cared for
  • Holding the first ever District Attorney’s Townhall Meeting in Lancaster Prison, which gave incarcerated people the opportunity to be civically engaged.

We couldn’t have done it without the support from friends like you. Will you consider making a gift before the year ends?

Any donation you make will have a tangible impact on those we serve:

  • $50 funds a computer skills class for our Members
  • $100 covers the costs of a Member’s one-on-one session with a clinical social worker
  • $500 sends one ARC Member to the State Capitol to share their story and advocate for fairer criminal justice laws across California
  • $1,000 supports a transformative mentoring relationship between an incarcerated young person and an ARC Member and credible messenger
  • $5,000 funds one month of the work of an ARC Life Coach, who has personally experienced incarceration and has been trained to help others rebuild their lives.
