Fight for $15

**************************
John,

Strikes in cities around the country. 2.5 million Florida workers on the path to $15/hr. Champions for $15/hr and union rights on their way to the White House.

Our movement has a lot of wins to celebrate.

This has been a HARD year for essential workers like me. Even with a global pandemic raging, I woke up every morning, put on the one mask McDonald's gave me, and went in to work on the frontlines, making only $9.45/hr. A wage that barely covers my rent, gas, and groceries.

Change ain't quick. But we are winning. As we close out this year, I'm celebrating some victories that only happened because of OUR movement. Share these wins >> [[link removed]]

In 2020, we went on strike and walked off the job to demand higher wages, union rights, PPE, and real action on McDonald's culture of sexual harassment and abuse. [[link removed]]

In July, thousands of us walked off the job to Strike for Black Lives. And hundreds of millions worldwide supported our call to end racism, white supremacy, and economic exploitation at our jobs and in our communities. [[link removed]]

Essential workers around the country voted on our issues, and we won BIG. 2.5 MILLION more workers are now on the path to $15 because Florida voters overwhelmingly supported a $15 state minimum wage. [[link removed]]

After changing the conversation about what we deserve to be paid, OUR votes elected Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, who support $15/hr nationally and strengthening union rights. [[link removed]]

This movement -- OUR movement -- has a basic demand: everyone deserves to live with dignity and respect. That starts with getting paid what we deserve.

Over the past decade, we've won more than $70 billion in raises for 64 million. And after this year, those numbers went up AGAIN. So in 2021, our demand is simple: Congress must pass a $15/hr national minimum wage.

Today, I'm celebrating. And tomorrow, I fight on.

In solidarity,

Essence Brooks

P.S. Tell Congress: pass a $15 minimum wage in the first 100 days of the Biden/Harris Administration >> [[link removed]]
