Deadline: Midnight, Tonight

John -- Nannies, house cleaners, and caregivers -- most of whom are women of color -- are struggling on every front. Despite working on the frontlines to protect our most vulnerable loved ones, these women were largely excluded from federal pandemic relief packages, don't have the option of remote work and have little, if any, safety net to fall back on.
While the pandemic has called upon us to act swiftly and creatively to support domestic workers, we still have more work to do. What we choose to do in this moment will set the future course of this country, for a generation, for domestic workers and for us all.
With a few hours to go, we're still short of our year-end fundraising goal to gear up for 2021. If you haven't made your year-end donation yet ... well, you're almost out of time but thanks to an additional $5,000 match from Maria Seddio and WasherWomenVote, any amount you give before midnight will be DOUBLED!
If you've saved your payment information with FastAction, your donation will go through immediately.
I've been really humbled to watch as folks across the country make donations large and small to support NDWA and our work to transform our economy to center care. We are inspired and led by the women of the domestic workers' movement and we are ready, with your help, to act.
We have a bold plan to build a robust home care infrastructure, which will allow millions of older adults and people with disabilities to receive accessible and affordable care and services in their homes, while raising wages and improving conditions for our nation's care workforce. Our policies to achieve better wages, benefits, and working conditions for domestic workers can give shape to the transformation of low wage work in America.
Together, we will:
- Promote an economic recovery agenda that prioritizes care, benefits all essential workers, offers immigrants a path to legalization, and centers Black women workers.
- Create momentum for a seachange at the national level through pioneering solutions like portable benefits -- which show we can value and protect every single hour of work equally -- developed and tested by our state and local organizing.
-
Sustain our civic engagement program to ensure that women of color voters can continue to make their voices heard in our democracy, including in the upcoming Georgia run-offs.
We firmly believe -- as you do -- that those who care for our loved ones and our homes also deserve to be cared for. And we are emboldened by the profound statement of values that supporters like you have made by your kindness and generosity toward domestic workers during this crisis. We know that many of you have faced losses and struggles of your own, and it gives me immense hope to witness this true show of solidarity.
I am so grateful for your past support, and today I hope you will join me again in supporting domestic workers. When you make your 2x matched donation by midnight tonight, you will be investing in the leadership of domestic workers and in the movement to transform our communities, our economy, and our democracy.
Together, we are more powerful and more resilient. We are determined. And I believe we will win.
Thanks for joining our growing movement, and I hope you have a great start to the new year tomorrow!
Sincerely,
Ai-jen Poo, Executive Director
