A 2020 Reflection
Friend,

This year, good news has been hard to come by. Our farmers and small businesses have struggled to get by, our schools have been closed, and our healthcare workers have been pushed to the brink.

And while it’s been easy to turn on the news and get down, as I’ve traveled across Northeast Wisconsin, I’ve been reminded that there is much more to the story. In the face of these challenges, our community stepped up in ways we never have before.

As I reflect on 2020, I'm reminded of some of the incredible people I met. People like Dana Rau-Courtier, a truck driver at Schneider who made sure essential freight continued to be delivered to customers.

Like Sheila Olinger, a stand-out caregiver within St. Paul's Elder Services who went above and beyond for her patients and provided some of the best dementia-care throughout the pandemic, in one of the most difficult environments the industry has ever seen.

And like Hilde Bengin in Chilton, who worked tirelessly to innovate, keep her business open, and serve her community while also supporting other Wisconsin businesses in the process.

From Marinette to Sturgeon Bay, Green Bay to Chilton, people across our community pulled together and embodied the best of our state. Their example has inspired me, and made me so proud to represent Northeast Wisconsin in Congress.

This year was a difficult one. But when we look back at all the challenges we faced, let us also remember that here in Northeast Wisconsin, we’re surrounded by heroes. And while our fight is not yet over, if we work together, we will defeat this disease.
