John,
Our climate is at a pivotal moment. Let me tell you why it’s so important that you act to protect it today.
After winning a second term, Gov. Cooper now has a mandate to act on climate and see his Clean Energy Plan come to fruition. But with anti-clean energy climate deniers still in control of the General Assembly, it will take everything we have to push forward.
Progress is possible, however. We stopped Duke Energy’s rate hike bill in 2019, and in 2017 helped pass a rare bipartisan bill that boosted solar energy in our state.
In 13 days, when legislators come back to Raleigh, we’ll be pushing for a lot more.

For more than 50 years, we have worked to protect every North Carolinian's health and quality of life by strengthening our democracy, changing the faces of power, holding our leaders accountable, and empowering our communities.
As the climate crisis worsens by the day and our most vulnerable communities are hit by COVID, health disparities, financial hardship, and so much more, that work has never been more important.
So we need your support now more than ever. Our state’s future depends on it.
Going into 2021, we’ve set a lofty budget to meet the moment we’re in. But we’re still $3,178 shy of our initial benchmark.
Will you help close that gap with a generous $50 or $34 membership renewal by midnight tonight? » [link removed]
We operate at the intersection of environmental protection and political action. We build a political environment that protects our natural environment — and our people. When lawmakers carry water for the polluters, we take them on. In their place, we support leaders who will fight for clean air, clean water, and clean energy for all North Carolinians.
That’s what your investment helps us accomplish. When you give, you put our mission into action.
Thanks for helping us close out the year strong, and Happy New Year!
