Dear Friend,

As the year comes to a close, we are looking forward with hope to a new year and a renewed commitment to essential consumer protections. Without the help and support of donors like you, we would not be in the strong position we are in to push for a more equitable financial marketplace.

That said, we have a full plate in front of us. We want to provide families with real opportunities to build and maintain wealth, reduce the racial wealth gap, and address the pernicious systemic inequality that holds back low-to-moderate income families, people of color, women, veterans, and other financially vulnerable communities.

In CA this September, Governor Newsom signed into law the new Department of Financial Protection and Innovation. As part of our ongoing advocacy for strengthened consumer protections, we commit to ensuring that the DFPI uses all the tools it has available to protect consumers. The pandemic has fallen most heavily on working families, and we will continue our tireless advocacy for regulators at the state and federal levels to prioritize their protection through this public health crisis and beyond.

Will you make a generous donation to the Center for Responsible Lending today? Your gift will help us end the year on a strong note and write a new chapter in the lives of the communities we are fighting for, one where everyone has equitable access to what they need, not only to survive, but to thrive.

Thank you,

Marisabel Torres
Director of California Policy
