If your inbox is anything like mine, I know you’ve received a lot of messages asking for your support – and I know it can be overwhelming. So I’ll keep this short:
I’m proud of the ways that our team at the Campaign for Southern Equality has been able to make a difference in 2020. In such a challenging and unexpected year, we focused on serving LGBTQ Southerners in new ways, including with Emergency Assistance Grants and virtual community gatherings. And I’m so thankful that you and every CSE donor was with us every step of the way.

We will remember 2020 as a year of significant pain and grief, but I will also remember 2020 as a year when folks came together and did what they could to help each other. I saw people donating their government stimulus check to folks who needed it more. I saw people getting groceries for their immunocompromised neighbors in mutual-aid networks. I saw a more precise articulation of the need for community than ever before. That’s how we need to live out every year, not just times of crisis.
I’m in awe of this generosity, and I want to remember that spirit of giving and mutual support in the new year.
