From Jan. 2: I am truly saddened to read the cruel and uninformed letter suggesting that paramedics (“ambulance people”) are “a waste of time” over firefighters. Paramedics and firefighters each have distinctive and important roles in responding to emergency situations and are funded very differently.

From Oct. 1: In a letter written by Alberta’s Chief Paramedic Darren Sandbeck, he says consolidation of the EMS dispatch service will not cost responders time. The decision was made recently to centralize EMS and 911 dispatch to make the service more cost-efficient.

New Brunswick Auditor General critical of privatized ambulance service

From Sept. 3: When Jackie Greenham's brother suffered a heart attack on July 21, he needed far more complex treatment than the family could find in Labrador City. He was "in a bad way," Greenham recalled. "He was critical. We didn't know if he was going to make it or not. His heart had stopped twice.
