Before we officially close the books on 2020, we wanted to take a moment to pause, reflect, and show our thanks and gratitude for this incredible team.
We've been crunching some numbers around this past cycle, so we wanted to take a moment to share with you some of our favorite Team Bowman highlights of 2020, by the numbers:
- 81: the number of endorsements Jamaal has received from local organizations in the Bronx and Westchester, educators, unions, and lawmakers — some who are now his soon-to-be colleagues in the House.
- 31 years: the length of time New York's 16th District went without a change in leadership — until our movement rallied around a Bronx middle school principal to challenge an entrenched incumbent in the pocket of the political establishment. And won.
- 89,041: total count of votes cast in the June primary for New York's 16th District. Jamaal Bowman won 55.4% of the total vote, securing a victory for progressive values and the working class.
- 460: number of Fox News articles that come up when you search for “Jamaal Bowman” — a number we suspect this number will only increase with time.
- $50,813.48: total amount of money our team raised for our allies over email, from other primary challenges like Cori Bush and Alex Morse, organizing in Georgia, and bringing much-needed COVID-19 relief to our neighbors.
- $25.42: our average donation this year. And while $25 was our average, over 85% of donors chip in less than $50 at a time to power our grassroots movement.
- $0.00: the amount of money we've accepted from corporate PACs and lobbyists this year.
- 3 days: amount of time left until Congressman-elect Jamaal Bowman is sworn in as Congressman Jamaal Bowman of NY-16, marking the start of a new era in American politics.
And our final number, $3,774: the amount we're still short of from reaching our $15,000 end-of-year goal before the FEC deadline at midnight. Will you chip in?
