Dear John,

Election security truly is a race without a finish line. At the close of a tumultuous year when so many (including me) would like nothing more than to rest, the work ahead to increase the security and reliability of our elections can seem daunting. But when I think how many champions like you stand with me, eager to keep pushing forward until we have fulfilled the promise that all voters can trust that their votes have been counted as cast, I find my energy again.

Thanks to generous supporters like you, Verified Voting has assisted election officials and voters throughout this election cycle. From Arizona to Wisconsin, we’ve helped officials safely implement post-election audits and other best practices. We coordinated national election protection efforts around voting technology, backed by extensive improvements to our Verifier and other data tools. And we’ve kept voters informed every step of the way through mainstream media and our social media channels. You made that work possible - not just this year, but in laying the groundwork for us to act and adapt.

There is so much more we need to accomplish to protect our elections: completely phase out paperless equipment, pass election security legislation, create and improve audit procedures, train and support election officials, encourage voter best practices, and educate the public. Before the year is out, I hope you’ll make a gift, so that in 2022 and 2024, the elements of a trustworthy voting record are in place across the nation, and voters can have justified confidence in the systems that make our democracy run.

On behalf of all of us at Verified Voting, I wish you a safe, peaceful, and restorative New Year. Tomorrow, our work begins anew. We hope you’ll be there with us, to keep building a stronger democracy together.
