2020 is almost over! Thank goodness.

We survived a tough year -- we faced a global pandemic with far too much death and illness, a reckoning around race, a historic election in the most positive and negative of ways, armed protestors inside the Capitol, and much more.

Through all this, we managed to get things done. I am so proud of my team for the work we did for Detroit and Downriver in 2020. We passed our bills to keep the water on, keep families connected to their loved ones in prison, help protect survivors of domestic violence, and give more young people who made a mistake a chance to keep their record clean. We helped 894 residents with unemployment, food assistance, housing and more. We secured $2 million for Detroit Public Television's programming expansion and $250,000 for air filtration systems in Southwest Detroit schools. We put together 35 events for our district. We distributed 37,000 masks. We defeated the effort to allow hazmat on the Ambassador Bridge. We spoke up against anti-Asian hate. The list goes on. We will always work hard for our communities, especially in a pandemic and no matter who is on the other side.
