Dear Friend,
The needs, the news, and the worries of 2020 have often been overwhelming. We wanted you to know that we’re thinking of you and your loved ones and hope that you’re well. As we leave 2020 behind, the dire need for medical aid won’t end when the clock strikes midnight. Millions of people around the world still need our help to access even the most basic of health care and treatment.
I've worked in humanitarian aid long enough to know that progress is never promised. Everything we fight for, whether it’s decreased maternal mortality rates in Afghanistan or the end of Ebola outbreaks in the Democratic Republic of Congo, is the product of years—if not decades—of hard work and collaboration.
As COVID-19 began to spread, many health care providers were forced to pause a lot of lifesaving programs and priorities because they simply couldn’t afford to continue. The world shifted its attention to COVID-19 and forgot about life-threatening diseases like HIV/AIDS and cholera. MSF took on the expanded challenge.
This email was sent from the U.S. section of Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), an international independent medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural and man-made disasters, and exclusion from health care.
