Aloha Fellow Republicans!

Isn’t President Trump and his team doing an incredible job on the international stage this week at the United Nations General Assembly and other meetings? We can all be very proud of what he is doing, despite the fact that he is constantly under attack, even by people in our own party! Our President is steadfast in his mission to Make America Great Again and there’s a lesson to be learned here in Hawaii.

You may have heard of a splinter group that has been attacking our party for well over a decade. They call themselves the Hawaii Republican Assembly and while they claim to be the sole standard bearer of all things conservative, their main mission over the decade has been to tear down the Hawaii Republican Party, their supporters, candidates, and elected officials. Just this past weekend, some of them brought their “antifa-inspired” tactics to a State Committee meeting and yelled, screamed and engaged disorderly conduct to the point that the police were called and the meeting was forced to shut down before any business could get done. It was just like you see on TV in other places around the country, an attempt at “mob rule” from the moment the meeting started and your party leaders had no chance to even engage in civil discourse or to actually share information on tackling the challenges of the 2020 cycle. While these tactics seem to be the norm nationwide, it is not how we will do
business in Hawaii. Just like President Trump, we must move forward with positive determination and not let these detractors deter us from our mission.

I am in constant dialogue with the leaders of the RNC, other State Party Chairmen around the country, and almost daily discussions with the Trump campaign team. In fact, I am happy to share a message from the Donald J. Trump for President, Inc. organization, attached here. Like me, the leaders of his team urge you to take a cue from their boss, President Donald J. Trump, and unite with the Hawaii Republican Party in growing the party to help regain ground in the state. As you know, we work directly with the campaign as the frontline for President Trump in Hawaii. The other organizations are simply posers with an agenda that is counter to our mission of bringing a vibrant, two-party system to our great state.

I invite everyone to join our team, even those who might not agree with us 100%. Recent U.S. political history shows that conservatives succeed when we fuse. So the traditionalist, the libertarian, and the anti “democratic-socialist” wings can get together and put our differences behind us and re-elect President Trump, all while gaining ground in our own local and state government.

The way we can be successful together is to reject hateful organizations and any extremists that claim they have the only conservative voice in Hawaii. I want to emphasize that there is room for all of us to do this important mission, but we must do so as one united ‘ohana and one Republican party. As the Hawaiian proverb goes: ‘A‘ohe hana nui ke alu ‘ia, which means that no task is too big when done together by all.

We are in the middle of the most amazing political moment of our time. I know that for us conservatives in Hawaii, now is the time to come together as one party to build and effort never seen before in our state. If you come across anyone who wants to spread hate and detract from a true message of unity with momentum and excitement, you can simply “unsubscribe” to their email lists, “unfollow” their Facebook page, and focus on the challenge that the Donald J. Trump for President campaign team gave us, to take every effort to share the positive vision that we have for the future of Hawaii.

Let’s grow our party together. I look forward to seeing all of you out in our neighborhoods, spreading the aloha of Hawaii Republican Party. Imua!

In your service,

Shirlene DelaCruz Ostrov
Chairman
