I have bad news to share.

Our year-end fundraising campaign is not on track to meet our goal, and
frankly, I'm starting to get nervous.

I think about what will happen if we don't meet our budget. Do we lay
off reporters? Reduce our coverage? If so, what stories do we cut?
Coverage of the climate emergency? The Trump-packed Supreme Court? The
wealth gap? The influence of money in politics?

We just can't afford to reduce our coverage of any of these and so many
other critical issues. Because if we don't cover them, who will?

As of this minute, we're $21,000 short of our goal for the year. That's
