Marchers in Naples, Florida, take part in global protest... CIW families join over 4 million in global Climate March!… Marchers in Naples, Florida, take part in global protest to unite behind the science and fight climate change, and the CIW was there!… Last Friday was a day for the history books. In an unprecedented show of unity across borders, cultures, languages, and political ideologies, over 4 million people across the globe took to the streets in thousands of cities to demand urgent action from their elected officials to address the ever worsening climate emergency before it’s too late. And of course, the CIW was present and accounted for! The Global Climate March was called to echo the now famous Friday “School Strikes” launched just one year ago by then 15-year-old Greta Thunberg of Sweden, when she skipped school to hold a one-person protest against government inaction outside the Swedish Parliament building. The movement started by Greta with her simple, eloquent protest (below, left) ultimately inspired millions and sparked the largest youth-led march in the history of the globe on Friday (below, right, marchers fill the streets last Friday in San Francisco, California, in just one of thousands of similar actions in cities from London to Tokyo): The global march was so big that even the sleepy, retiree community of Naples, Florida, got in on the action (below), making its own art, energy, and noise to call for urgent action to protect the earth from the existential threat of climate change: Get the full photo report from the Naples Climate March over at the CIW website!
