John xxxxxx,

With our last deadline of 2020 coming up tomorrow at midnight and our fundraising severely slowing down , I have to make a personal request:

Can you pitch in $10 or any amount towards our campaign so we’re ready to make progress in 2021? [[link removed]]

This year has been one for the record books, and while it was filled with unprecedented challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, it also had some major victories thanks to folks like you standing up, speaking out and fighting for what’s right.

Not only did our Democratic House majority hold President Trump accountable for his corrupt abuse of power, but the American people decisively fired him at the ballot box and prevented another four years of his disastrous presidency in November's historic election. And none of it would have been possible without the hard work of dedicated organizers and activists on the ground mobilizing voters across the country.

In the House, we passed a number of groundbreaking bills to make progressive change and lift up our communities, including:

*
The
John
Lewis
Voting
Rights
Advancement
Act
to
restore
and
expand
the
Voting
Rights
Act
and
stop
the
growing
trend
of
voter
suppression,
in
honor
of
our
hero
John
Lewis
who
devoted
his
life
to
the
equal
right
to
vote.

*
The
George
Floyd
Justice
in
Policing
Act
to
prevent
the
loss
of
Black
lives
by
banning
chokeholds,
no-knock
warrants,
racial
and
religious
profiling
and
more
to
reform
our
criminal
justice
system.

*
The
Raise
the
Wage
Act
to
give
workers
a
much
deserved
boost
and
finally
increase
the
minimum
wage
to
$15
an
hour
across
the
country.

Unfortunately, none of these bills or our additional legislation to provide more pandemic relief were passed by the Republican-controlled Senate, landing in Mitch McConnell’s self-described “legislative graveyard.” 2021 is the year we can change that.

As long as the GOP maintains their Senate majority, we have some major fights ahead of us in order to deliver stronger relief and positive change to our communities.

That’s why this final fundraising deadline matters: we need to ensure we have the resources we need to close out 2020 and start 2021 off strong.

I know I’m ready to keep delivering results for the people and do what it takes to make change happen. Will you help me by making a donation of any amount to help reach our end-of-year fundraising goal? [[link removed]]

Thanks for everything you’ve done this past year: to get out the vote, to pull the plug on Donald Trump, to send a good and decent man to the White House and to help us hold our Democratic majority in the House.

The time to clean up Trump’s mess, defeat this virus and rebuild our country has come, whether Mitch McConnell likes it or not. Let’s get to work.

Keep the faith,

— Hakeem
