I’m proud of us,
John.

We accomplished amazing things together this year — despite all the
challenges we faced in 2020. From electing reform-champion George Gascon
as the new District Attorney of Los Angeles County, to protecting Kim
Gardner’s seat for District Attorney of St. Louis, we pulled off some of
the most important political victories I’ve ever been part of. But now’s
the time to level up our ambition.

We’ve got a mammoth task ahead of us. If we want to continue electing
reform-minded District Attorneys to transform our justice system, we need
to turbocharge our organizing and be prepared for the tough road ahead.

The sad truth is that in the races we lost this year, it was mostly
because we were out-organized and out-spent. We can’t let that happen
again.

[ [link removed] ]I want to be transparent with you about the plan ahead — and I’m hoping
you’ll help fund it before our final, year-end fundraising deadline on
December 31.

We’re still determining which races to prioritize, but here’s the plan:

* Working with the reform-minded champions we already elected to roll
out aggressive agendas and hold police accountable. Right now, DAs
have more power than any other elected officials to prosecute police
for their crimes. That is why we will organize Real Justice-elected
DAs to hold police accountable for violence and set a precedent that
police cannot live above the law.

* Recruiting strong, reform-minded candidates for local prosecutor
positions all over the country. This is not just about checking the
right boxes, it’s about finding people who genuinely care about reform
and have a demonstrated history that they will not buckle under
pressure once in office.

* Fighting attacks from the opposition. This year we saw RECORD breaking
numbers in spending from the opposition. Police unions spent over $5
million to try and defeat George Gascon. GOP leaders and other
“pro-police” groups are also investing more money than ever to attack
our reform-minded candidates.

* Scaling up a highly-informed, grassroots movement of organizers and
volunteers in all 2,400 districts. We will focus on organizing that is
both massive in scale and deep in skill and power. And we will
continue educating the nation on the essential role of local
prosecutors in the fight for criminal justice reform.

* Mobilizing our national network to provide key support and resources
in important DA races all over the country. We will follow the lead of
locally-rooted organizers, and we will use our strengths to support
them in the best ways possible. We will flex our volunteer muscle, use
our megaphone to broaden reach, provide expert design and ad capacity,
and help raise critical campaign funds.

Above all, our success depends on thousands of people like you,
volunteering, organizing, contributing, speaking out, working together to
change the criminal justice system from the inside out.
