Your gift today could help families determined to survive in conflict-torn places like Syria. Nearly 10 years into the war, when we see the word — Syria — what comes to mind? Perhaps it’s images of bombed-out buildings, or families running to cross borders. But there’s so much more to this country. And many millions of Syrians remain, doing their best to live day by day, as war rages on. Aisha and Ibrahim, whose names we’ve changed to protect their identities, are an older couple who’ve stayed in Syria throughout the war. They say they lived well before, but as the conflict caused food prices to spike, they turned to their garden to grow food to eat. It was barely enough. Now that their location is more stable, Mercy Corps team members have provided an irrigation system to help the couple to grow more food for their family. They even have enough to sell at local markets, providing some income. We’re doing this work in several communities in Syria, providing agriculture training, grants and farming supplies to help families feed themselves and boost their incomes.
