After a long period of waiting for Pete Buttigieg, finally the mayor has something to celebrate: President-elect Biden will name him secretary of transportation, making him the first-ever openly gay person to serve in a Cabinet position.
Buttigieg has been a stalwart champion for Biden on the campaign trail, stumping for the president-elect at rallies and even going on Fox News to spar with Republicans on their own turf. As POLITICO reported, these efforts meant that Buttigieg had “some chips to cash in with Biden.”
