I won't lie: times are tough for everyone. This was one of the hardest years I've experienced at the Sierra Club. The Trump administration has gone after the Endangered Species Act protections that keep vulnerable animals from being lost forever. They've shrunk monuments and pushed for offshore drilling. They've worsened the deadly COVID-19 pandemic at every turn. And they continue to ignore the threat of the climate crisis while effects are felt across the globe.
But we've seen deeply encouraging victories as well: We have 165 cities committed to 100% clean energy. We increased the number of dirty coal plants slated for retirement to 318. We had an 88% win record in legal challenges to the Trump administration. And of course this was all made possible by the 3.8 million Sierra Club champions who refuse to sit idly by.
While we have made tremendous strides forward, the fight is not over yet. We need your support by midnight tomorrow to meet our goal. We have generous donors that agreed to TRIPLE match every donation up to $350,000 but we need your help to get there. Will you join the fight to stand up for our people, our wildlife, and our planet?
We need your help to head into 2021 strong — because we still face some of our biggest challenges: Blocking offshore drilling efforts and keeping dirty fuels in the ground. Saving the Endangered Species Act itself from extinction. Defending vulnerable communities from pollution. We need you, Supporter.
Thank you — and happy New Year!
Sincerely,
Mark Bosler
