My 2020 campaign had many high notes. We recruited a volunteer army of over 5,000 people, built a broad coalition that crossed race, geography, class and political orientation, and elevated a number of critical issues into the public conversation.

Dozens of groups were part of this effort. One of the most important, and one I’d like you to consider supporting with a year-end gift, is the Sunrise Movement.

Sunrise is a youth-led organization devoted to combating climate change. They are responsible for bringing the idea of a “Green New Deal” into the national conversation. They built a diverse coalition that not only educates the public about the urgency of moving from fossil fuels to renewable energy, but also does the work.

Sunrise recruited hundreds of volunteers to my campaign who collectively made hundreds of thousands of phone calls. They helped me win the Democratic nomination and elevated my candidacy into the national conversation. They produced a beautiful campaign ad and inspired countless others to join the cause.

The teenagers and 20-somethings of the Sunrise Movement helped elect progressives across the country in 2020, including some of my favorite rising stars in Congress like Jamaal Bowman and Cori Bush. Now they are working with President-elect Biden to ensure that climate change is one of our top national priorities.
