Hi,

It's been a few months since I've been in touch -- you might remember me as the Convention Director for our Texas Democratic Convention earlier this summer. That week was so moving for so many of us. In the midst of all this year's heartache, a tide of Texas Democrats came together virtually to be there for one another and push our state forward.

It touched lives. And it couldn't have happened without all of YOU.

Now, I'm taking on a new role as the new Finance Director here at the Texas Democratic Party -- and I can't wait to get back out there with y'all after we take some time to rest and reflect.

I've lived almost my entire life in San Antonio. Our Texas Democratic fight is in my bones. As a teenager, I saw how my family and my community struggled -- and the difference that affordable healthcare, quality education, and immigration justice would make.

But I also learned that the power to bring change is in our hands -- if we're brave enough to believe that we can make a difference.

That belief is what led me to co-found and lead MOVE Texas when I was in college, and it's what kept me working to elect Texas Democrats ever since. And it's why I'm so excited to start on this new challenge: to help more folks in our movement own their power and find their voice to shape our collective future.

Growing up Jewish, for Shabbat dinner on Fridays, we would come together as a family at the dinner table. Our family's custom was to circle the lit candles with our hands, welcoming their warmth, and then to cover our eyes before saying the blessings. Each time, before we'd open our eyes again, my mom would close out our prayer by saying "and when you open your eyes, the world is a little brighter than it was before."

Those words kept coming back to me this year and especially post-election. Each morning as we open our eyes, because of your work -- because of every volunteer, grassroots donor, and Texas Democratic supporter -- our world has begun looking a little brighter. And if we all stay the course, we will keep building the new Texas we all believe in so deeply.
