John,
I am proud to serve as the Coalition on Human Needs' Director of Public Policy. In this role, I have the honor of fighting for our shared agenda on Capitol Hill—fighting to lift up struggling families; fighting to make sure more people don't become homeless; and fighting to ensure people throughout our country have the food they need to survive.
As we look ahead to 2021, CHN is placing a priority on getting Congress to pass a legislative fix to ensure that people throughout our country who have struggled to make ends meet during the pandemic recession don't lose their Earned Income Tax Credit and their Child Tax Credit; these tax credits play a critical role in stabilizing the finances of millions of households throughout our country. But that’s not all.
Our job is to fight to ensure families, the sick, and the poor get the essential aid during this pandemic that they desperately need to keep from becoming homeless and hungry. We simply cannot allow hunger, poverty, and homelessness to continue to rise during a global pandemic.
Will you join me in supporting CHN and chip in $5 or more with a year-end tax-deductible donation so we can fight for our shared priorities of justice and equity for low-income people throughout our country?
During the past five months, after government aid dwindled, 7.8 million Americans have slipped into poverty. Together, we must reverse this dangerous trend. And I will take your voice and our shared priorities directly to members of Congress and policy makers in the incoming Biden-Harris administration.
Even before the pandemic struck, people in every state were already living paycheck to paycheck—that dire situation has only gotten worse.
We need policies that support our children. And we need policies that support our states and local communities so more people don't get laid off and our communities don't lose essential services. Chip in with a year-end donation today so we can fight for these shared priorities in the New Year.
Thank you for all you do to demand accountability from our political leaders and to fight for the needs of the vulnerable, the sick and the poor.
